Art & Copy Zine Workshop

Experiential learning is all ‘learning by doing,’ and our Art & Copy Zine Workshops are set up so that you get the chance to explore, experiment, and try your hand at making ‘zines.’ What is a ‘zine?’ A mini-magazine. Learn more here.

Our zine club has an international membership and we are starting to discover that there’s for sure an interest in starting a real-life version of our project in the Triangle. We’re going to give it a whirl with a popup style event for you to meet, talk, discover us and our process, and even make something for keeping and taking with you, over the course of a week. Here’s an outline of what we’ll do.

What it is:
Art & Copy Zine Workshop
Sunday August 30
Cary, NC
Tickets $95 per person
Ages 18+
Advance bookings only. Min 2, Max 6

Start to finish publishing so you can make a ‘zine.’

FAQ

What is a zine?

A zine is a mini magazine and anyone can make one.

Do I need to be experienced?

Nope. You can try it. No experience necessary. We have both beginner and advance guests.

What can I expect?

It’s a chance to make new friends and see what our club creates, as we meet every week and try new things. Together. Let’s find out together what all the participants want to do, and make the experience something that works well for everyone. This is Open Space Technology style of hosting. You can discover something as we go. The main goal is to try something new that might surprise you, and for us to have some time and space to slow down, meet each other, and discover something new about each other and ourselves, too.

You can come ready to try new things, bring your favorite writing and drawing materials, or items to cut and paste into a collage.

What is Art & Copy?

Art & Copy is the zine we make each month together in Art & Copy Zine Club. Member PP says, ‘It is a space to unleash your inner creativity as a writer, you can write about anything. The story you might have in your mind that you had always wanted to share. It can be diaristic or artistic. The possibilities are endless.’

Who is hosting?

It’s hosted by Dipika Kohli (read reviews). She is an author, designer, writer and editor for Art & Copy, a zine club that meets every week. We are on Instagram at http://instagram.com/dkompany.

A line I like:

‘Art fights the false optimism of commercial society. it’s there to remind us with dignity that every good life has extraordinary amounts of confusion, suffering, loneliness and distress within it, and that therefore we should never aggravate sadness by feeling we must be freakish simply for experiencing it quite a lot.’
